A middle-aged woman publicly disowned her cat on Monday for having the wrong sort of furry friends, UK MailOnline reported.
In a bizarre saga which has gripped the town of Lafia, Nigeria, the seven-year-old feline has been abandoned by his owner for being gay.
According to UK MailOnline, the owner claims that the cat has engaged in “unnatural sexual behavior,” making advances towards other male cats in the house while shunning the females in the area.
So Bull, the cat, found himself homeless when the owner accused it of being a homosexual pet.
The cat owner expressed a strong belief in the divine purpose of creating male and female of every creature to fulfill an ordained purpose of procreation, according to UK MailOnline.
In further damning evidence, neighbors told Leadership that none of the other cats born while Bull was in the house had his coloring, lending credence to the fact that it has not been able to mate with other female cats in its home or anywhere in the environment.
They claim that this is because he is not doing his heterosexual best to continue the species, UK MailOnline reported.
Calling Bull’s actions as “a contradiction of the laws of nature,” Bull’s owner, who has not been named, kicked him out of the house.
“Anybody interested in this gay cat can have it because I have no further use of it,” she said.
The cat’s renunciation which attracted members of the public proved to be dramatic since no one wanted to take ownership of such a cat, UK MailOnline reported.
Many residents of the area, however, have not only been thronging to the house located on Gboko Street, Tudun Gwandara area of Lafia to see the spectacle, but have also been cracking jokes about the incident.
While Bull may be the first cat to have been publically declared gay and disowned by his owner, he is not the first pet.
In 2013, a Tennessee man sent his dog to an animal shelter to be put down after he suspected it of being gay. Just hours before being put down, the dog was found by a new and more sympathetic owner, UK MailOnline reported.
When Leadership visited the area, youths were seen in groups cracking jokes about the incident.
